Billicord: Frequently Asked Questions

A list of answers to frequently asked questions.

----------------

What is Billicord?

Billicord is a Discord server run by a group of 8 friends who used to be part of bigger online communities, and who decided to make thier own space.

What's with the 8-ball?

The 8-ball is a representation of the 8 people who started the server together. It's a classic symbol, and fittingly, the server uses references to pool tables throughout.

Why is it called Billicord?

Billicord's name comes from 'Billiards' a group of games including Snooker, Pool and other cue sports. The white ball is also sometimes called the 'cue ball', while the coloured balls are 'object balls'. Together, they are often referred to as 'Billiard Balls'. The server name combines 'Billiards' and 'Discord' together, and it fit pretty well.

What's a 'Billington'?

Billington is the given name to all members of Billicord, it was suggested by a co-owner during a staff meeting.

What's Billicord's Stance on AI?

Billicord supports artists and creatives, so we do not allow generative AI content (like images, writing or videos) out of respect for original work. Content which uses AI to aid in content creation, such as using ChatGPT to fix grammar errors or AI Image Editing tools to fix or edit content, should be fine.

Where do I get custom roles?

There is a channel called 'roles' (channel names change periodically) using a toolbox emoji. This channel is where you select roles.

Can I suggest changes or improvements for Billicord?

Yes, we have a forum channel for this, called 'feedback-help'. It's also where you can ask for help for something.

Why cant I post pics or embeds in some channels?

Billicord runs on a level tier system. Some channels require you to reach a certain level before posting content like stickers, gifs, pics or embdeds. This is to encourage engagement and keeps the server safe from spam or disruptive behavior. Some channels are locked for this reason for new members. The level system doubles as a trust system.

Why cant I use activities in voice channels?

Same as with text channels, voice channels require you to reach specific levels before accessing features in voice channels.
